OVERVIEW
The new 2-mode full hybrid system will be launched in the Yukon
Hybrid for 2008. When combined with Active Fuel ManagementTM,
it is expected to enable the Yukon Hybrid to deliver a composite fuel
economy improvement of 25 percent (based on EPA estimated MPG
15 city/21 highway 4WD for the 2007 Yukon (non-hybrid) with Vortec
5.3L engine). EPA-estimates for Yukon Hybrid not available at the time
of printing.

 | 2-MODE HYBRID FEATURES The 2-mode is a patented hybrid
technology with two modes
optimized for city and highway
driving.
• First mode: At low speed and light
loads, the vehicle can operate by
electric power or engine power or
any combination
• Second mode: Primarily for
highway speeds providing electric
assist and full V8 power when
needed. It integrates sophisticated
electronic controls, Active Fuel
ManagementTM, cam phasing and
late-intake valve closure for
efficient engine operation
• 2-mode system allows for more
compact packaging because
powerful electric motors are
designed to fit within the space
of a conventional automatic
transmission
• 300-volt battery pack is larger than
typical battery, but fits in without
compromising passenger space.
